In December 2016 my motivation and direction changed a bit as I received BRCA1+ results from genetic testing. I lost my Mother to triple negative breast cancer in 2014 and have a family history, so I chose genetic testing. Since I have spent my time in doctor’s offices, had a prophylactic bilateral mastectomy and DIEP flap reconstruction. I chose preventative surgery in order to take my 87% chance of breast cancer down to a 2%.
Follow along my journey, from everyday life experiences to some of those harder life choices, it’ll promise to stay interesting.
